Use the Online Catalog to find books, videos, and music CDs:
  • The Library's catalog (or OPAC) is available at home or at school; go to Current Students web page, click on Library | Online Catalog
  • Search specific KEYWORDS for your topic first -- tango; Garcia Marquez; Chile history -- then try more general terms.
  • General KEYWORDS: Latin America; Literature; Civilization; Art.
  • There are several useful series on countries; search the titles below as Series to get a listing of all titles: Modern Nations of the World; Enchantment of the World, Second Series; Greenwood Histories of the Modern Nations.
  • "Global Studies: Latin America" is a very useful series on the region that includes "Country Reports" (on current political and economic status) and "Articles from the World Press" (articles on environmental, cultural, political and economic issues in various countries).
Chapin Databases & Online Magazines:
  • Economist.com - Chapin has both print and online versions of this magazine with its international coverage of business and politics.
  • History Resource Center -- World section is a great source for finding reference articles on countries & their history; also includes magazine articles from The Economist and other journals.
  • Proquest - Includes full-text magazine articles, current newspaper articles (including the NYT), and articles from the Historical New York Times (1851-2003). The NY Times has many articles on Latin American countries, and is also a source of photographs and images.
