Library Resources for Psychology

Psychology project -- Ms. Boals

Reference books can provide an overview of a topic, as well as key facts, names, and dates:
  • REF 150.3 ENC   Encyclopedia of psychology
  • REF 306.094   Encyclopedia of European Social History from 1350 to 2000 v.6 (Biographies)
  • REF 920   Encyclopedia of World Biography
  • REF 920   Women in World History
Tips for finding Books using the Online Catalog:
  • The Library's catalog (or OPAC) is available at home or at school; go to Current Students web page, click on Library | Online Catalog
  • Searching a person's last name as "Keyword" rather than "Subject" often retrieves more titles.
  • General subject terms may also lead to helpful resources. Ex. Psychology--History; Psychoanalysts; Psychologists
Chapin Databases:
  • History Resource Center: David Alger Memorial History Resource Page -- World  and US History sections contain reference and journal articles on people and ideas in psychology.
  • JSTOR (pronounced j-store) is a database of scholarly journal articles that includes complete back files but not the most recent 3-5 years; it includes articles from 7-8 psychology journals and more than 20 history journals.
