Other Planning Details
- While the concentration for this TIP program is in class 2/3, there will be benefits to classes K and 1. The LS Tech person will be using the 6 laptops designated for K/1 to provide regular weekly small group computer lessons to the girls in K/1
- In other words, the LS Tech person will be providing lessons within the class 2/3 rooms using the designated 50 laptops and within the class K/1 rooms for those girls using the designated 6 laptops
- The locations of laptop carts needs to be worked out via Sara Adler, Tom Palermo and others. The basic framework, however, is to put each 2' by 4' cart in the class 2 area and the class 3 area.
- This TIP program should be seen as independent of any re-allocation of room 312.
- In the fall of 2004, we will be proceding with the video camera and one new quality desktop Mac in each lower school classroom. The purpose here is to encourage the 9 classroom teachers to take videos of the girls and their projects for use with Powerpoint, IMovie, CDs, DVDs and computer projects, showing them on the many classroom projectors that will pervade the lower school this fall.
- The lower school tech group will meet every few weeks in the Fall of 2004 to help assess, coordinate and generate more ideas; we will add a Kindergarten teacher to the committee (Sara Adler, Carolyn Crandall, Kam Allen, Christy Capetto, Lynne Schalman, Cordenia Paige)
Humanware
- The full tech dept will support the lower school tech person in terms of managing and repairing laptops
- Our expectation is that the demands on the lower school tech person will be increased significantly as a result of this program
- As we have done with the Middle School LIP program, we will assess during year one both the value of the program and the human time demands in terms of people.
