
We are learning about WiFi.
1. WiFi stands for Wireless Fidelity.
2. W.L.A.N. stands for Wireless Local Area Network.
3. WiFi allows computers to communicate with each other.
4. WiFi is a recent type of Ethernet.
5. WiFi devices send and receive messages to/from devices using their network with a WAP or Wireless Application Protocol.
6. WiFi is usually used in stores where wireless internet is available.
7. "WiFi operates on IEEE 802.11 specifications."
8. "There are different types of 802.11 connections 802.11b, 802.11g which operate at 2.4 GHz and 802.11a which operates at 5 GHz." NIPH told me that, "Apparently the companies who sell WiFi have had some trouble getting people to buy their products. This is because of the increasing popularity of free WiFi, which is offered in many coffee shops, airports et cetera."
9. "The term WiFi can be used for all of the products but certain products are certified by the WiFi Alliance, these products carry a special seal."
10. WiFi can allow buildings to have wireless access.
