For our 8th assignment, we are supposed to talk about the Congressional Election, the NY Governor Election, Darfur, and the Clinton/Obama Election for 2008.
THE NY GOVERNOR ELECTION
The governor, who will serve for the next four year, is supposed to be elected on November 7, 2006. They will serve starting from January 1st, 2007 to December 31st, 2010. The next governor will be suceeding George Pataki, who was he previous governor. Two candidates for this position are Eliot Spitzer and Thomas Suozzi. Currently, Spitzer has approx. 81% of the popular vote, while Suozzi only has approx. 19%. All six of the candidates are:

THE CONGRESSIONAL ELECTION
After searching on www.house.gov, I have found out that my Representative for my district/ zip code area is Carolyn B. Maloney (10128). She is representing the 14th district, and if elected, she will be the 1st women to represent that district. She graduated from Greensboro College and her first career involved teaching for the Board Of Education. In 1977, she joined the New York State Legislature and in 1982, she ran for public office. She has enormous potential; she was on the Council for ten years! And she also meet Queen Latifah! In 1986, she founded the Council's Committee. Carolyn Maloney also served on the House Financial Services Committee, as well as the Government Reform and Oversight Committee, and the Joint Economic Committee, and was recently named the Chair of the House Democratic Task Force on Homeland Security.
