Here are the steps we used to make a computer:
Put processor on motherboard
Put heat sync fan on top of processor
Install motherboard
Put in floppy drive
Install the hard drive
Connect cables to the motherboard
Attach IDE cables to the CD then to the floppy
Attach IDE (Ribbon Cables) to the motherboard
Connect the cable from the power supply to the hard drive and the floppy drive
Tuck away cables
Connect cables from heat sync fan to the motherboard
Insert sound card
Insert ethernet card
Insert video card
Screw all cards to the case (hexagonal screws)
Bring your finished computer to the front table for inspection. A member of the Tech Team will check your work by connecting it to a moniter and (trying to) turn it on and work the different applications.
On the first day we built the computer for the first time, with help from the teachers. On the second day we built a computer for the first time by ourselves and then the teachers broke one part in the computer and we had to figure out which part it was and fix it. If our group fixes it first we win a surprise in the afternoon and we our taken on a morning trip to Techserve to learn more about computers and each parts function.
Here are more pictures taken throughout the build!
Here we are with our finished computer! Yay!
