Video Projects

Guidelines for Video Projects

  • Expect to do all your shooting on one day ... be quick and efficient ... all equipment to be back in room 39 area before the end of the period.
  • Students are not to handle the MINI-DV tapes; one of the computer teachers will swap tapes and/or label your group's tape.
  • Like professionals, try to shoot each scene more than once ... but watch your time so that you are done with all shooting in one day.
  • Process for recording:
    1. Press Record Button
    2. SILENTLY count "one mississippi two mississippi three mississippi four mississippi five mississippi"
    3. Start acting and reading your lines
  • Be respectful of any place where you shoot in terms of noise and bothering other people.
  • If music is added or graphics from the Web, remember attribution.
  • Use firewire hard drives to backup or transfer; no other method is recommended!
  • If there are X girls in the group, then the final project should be X number of minutes (i.e. 2 minutes long for 2 girls or 3 minutes long for 3 girls) ... the idea is that we would.
  • Each bag contains a Canon ZR40 or ZR60 or ZR80 video camera, a firewire cable, a charger, a battery and a MINI-DV tape; make sure all items are returned at the end of the 40 minutes and that the lens cap is back on the camera!
  • If your battery dies, one Plan B is to bring the camera back to the Room 39 Office for a fresh battery. Another option is to pick up an electric extension cord.
  • GE stands for Good Enough! You MUST complete this in ONE period.
  • Let the teacher in the classroom know EXACTLY where you're going. If you change locations send one of your team members back to the classroom to inform the teacher.
