Language Lab notes

1. Be sure that the Green light on the console is on.

2. If you are asked for a login and password:

User Name = Instructor

         Password = console

3. If students are asked for a login and password on their machines:

         User Name = Chapin

         Password = wheel

4. If the student machines do not have the application open, students can double-click on the Sanako Lab 300 icon on the desktop. Or the teacher can perform a Duolaunch from the Group Control Window or the Student Control Window for individual students not logged on.

Notes on General Usage

If a workstation is not connected to the console:

1. If the white square does not appear on the student workstation on the console, then that workstation is not connected. There are several strategies.

2. First, click the workstation box and then click Duolaunch in the workstation control window. Wait a few seconds to see if the white square appears.

2. If the Duolaunch strategy does not work, go to the laptop and log-off  and then Log-on again.  You will have to use the "wheel" password.

3. If neither of the two above strategies works, then you will have to restart the computer. Go to the Start Menu, choose Shut Down and then choose Restart. After the laptop restarts, select the workstation number at the console and try Duolaunch again. Sometimes, the machine has to be restarted several times to work.
4. Final Plan- give up, put a Do Not Use sign on the laptop and send a note to Turnin-LL. Sorry!

If the console is frozen:

1. Try to quit the Sanako software and then open it again.

2. If quitting does not work, hold down Ctrl-Alt-Delete to activate the force quit option. Click on the Task Manager tab. (Task Managed is the Windows version of Force Quit on the Mac.) You will see the Sanako program listed. Click on it and shut Quit. Then restart it.

3. If neither of the two above options work, then log-off the console by going to the Start Menu, choosing Shut Down and then choose Restart. You will need the "console" password to log back on again.

4. If all else fails, then you will have to restart the console. This process takes several minutes. Sorry!
