Important Note to all Upper School Students
Reminder to
please refrain from going on to Facebook/Myspace/Friendster on the Library Computers because people need to use them for projects and to do their homework. Remember, you are welcome to use the Computer Room (rm. 39) when there is not a class taking place.
Advice for Chapin students in Classes 4-7

Quick Survey of Students:
- How many have have e-mail accounts at home
- How many use instant messenging (IM)
- What grade were you in when you started using IM
- Install anti-virus software for your home computers
- Never meet anyone on line
- Do not give out your outside of school activities
- Don't open an e-mail from an address you don't recognize
- Don't try to download attached files from people you do not know
- Don't download an attached file in either a .pif or .exe format
- Don't respond to SPAM
- When on AOL, use the "protect" feature so that you receive from authorized people only
- When on the web and you come across an inappropriate site,
immediately quit your web browser - don't use the back button. On a PC, you may need to force quit (control-alt-delete)
- Don't fall for any advertising gimmicks. i.e. "you've won a million dollars!"
- If in 4th and 5th grade, try to use yahooligans, ajkids.com more often than google
- Never give out personal information,
including name, e-mail address, home address, name of school, phone number, parents information, sibling information, or password.
- Keep other eyes off of the keyboard when you are typing your password.
